Smith Companies Tech Products has developed a multiple syringe actuator that requires only one stepper motor drive to independently actuate selected syringes. Using a patented design, the user can electronically select the syringe(s) and length of stroke as needed.

Shown is the Smith Tech Four Syringe Actuator. Overall size is approximately the same as a typical single syringe drive. The assembly is approximately half the cost of using four independent drives.

Already being used in flow cytometry, the design is applicable to analyzers, counters, chromatography equipment, diluters, dispensers and other liquid handling instruments. The design is adaptable to most single syringe drives. Its modularity allows syringe positions to be added or deleted for your specific application. Valves can be incorporated to meet your specifications.
