Warranty Policy: In the event you believe one of our parts requires warranty replacement, you must call us prior to replacing the part to avoid unintended charges.  When you call, please have the serial number available (if applicable) so we can verify the purchase date.  Since the rack warranty period is determined from the original installation date, you may also fax us the serial number and proof of the installation date (packing slip, etc.).  This will determine whether your customer is entitled to a new or repaired rack.  Please be advised that we will not issue full warranty credit for racks that were in use for over six months.  If the rack has been in use longer than six months, we will send you a replacement from our repaired stock.  The repaired replacement will be in good working condition and of similar age to the rack under warranty.  If you replace a rack more than 6 months old from your new stock, keep in mind, you will only receive partial warranty credit.  Please advise us of the serial number of the replacement.  Additional information is on the warranty information card enclosed with each part.  Be sure that the rack warranty card is completed and returned in order to facilitate future claims.  Please instruct your technical personnel of these requirements to avoid any delays in processing warranties.

It is your responsibility to initiate a warranty claim prior to issuing a Purchase Order for a replacement part.  Warranties cannot be processed against a previously placed order.  Any questions, please call our technicians or sales department prior to returning a potential warranty part.

Warranty Terms: If you suspect that a product is faulty due to a defect in materials or workmanship within the warranty period, call us so we can help you determine what the problem is and if it is covered under warranty.  A representative will authorize replacement and return of the suspect product.  We ask you to use a new purchase order for the replacement instead of RMA numbers.  If our examination determines it to be within the warranty period and defective in workmanship or material, we will provide a replacement product, free of charge.  Return the suspect product to Smith Companies with a description of the trouble, freight prepaid.  You are responsible for the return shipping charges.  This warranty does not apply in the case of damage to the product due to accident, misuse, abuse, alteration, improper handling, improper maintenance, lack of cleaning, overheating and/or improper installation.  An inspection fee of $65.00 plus freight will be charged for returned parts not covered under warranty or if no manufacture’s defect is found.  Misdiagnosis of processor issue does not constitute a warranty return.

Warranty Advisory: The new style DENT-X one piece drain plug, when touching the large gear on the developer and fixer racks, can cause accelerated rack wear, twisted driveshafts and film feed problems.  Rack problems caused by a rubbing new style DENT-X one piece drain plug will not be covered under warranty.  These problems can be avoided by either using Smith drain plugs or making sure the DENT-X new style plugs, when installed, do not touch the large gear on the racks.
